Roatan Honduras' Sandy Bay is located on the island's north shore toward the western end (Roatan Maps). Miles of beautiful beaches trim the shore with just a short swim to the living coral reef. Unlike the beach at West Bay, Sandy Bay offers peaceful relaxation in an uncrowded atmosphere and a much more enjoyable reef snorkeling experience. Dive operators are in the area for your SCUBA diving or lessons; most will do fishing charters, too.
Many docks are found on the beach to get you easily out past the shallow water into great swimming and snorkeling. The "untouristy" ambience of Sandy Bay makes its small resorts and vacation rentals the choice of those looking for quiet surroundings, long beaches to explore, and privacy.
